KANGAROOS CHALLENGE SET

THE Hamilton Kangaroos Under 18.5’s team is set to take on top of the table South Warrnambool in a must-win preliminary final on Saturday morning in the Hampden Football Netball League at Reid Oval, Warrnambool.

It will be a massive test for the roos as the last time they played the roosters they lost by 49 points – the roosters could also gain three rebels players for this week’s clash.

Coach Luke Uebergang said he was super pleased with last weekends result as the previous week when we brought back seven players the team didn’t gel but against Cobden it was a real team effort.

“We need to make sure that we are ready for the contest as we are a quite physical team and good around the contest but we need to make sure that we match their outside game and make sure that we are ready to put on some good pressure,” he said.

“The players that we have regained from the senior side act as extra leaders on the ground and I can rely on them to make sure messages are getting across the ground – they are like having second coaches on the ground and they also aren’t fazed by the pressure.

“Rebels lost their final so South (Warrnambool) will gain a few players from that so Rantall (Will) is one to watch and we will give Joey Lehmann first crack at him.

“They also have George Stevens and Luamon Lual - we are backing ourselves to beat them but those three from the rebels are massive inclusions (if named).

“I urge supporters to get down to support the boys in a game that’s going to pretty warm, so it’s really important that we get a great support base down here.”

Charlie Alexander will play a very important role for the roos as every game he has played in the Under 18s he has been named in the best including best-on in last week’s semi-final.

The roos will also look to senior players Noah Hermann, Jack Jennings, Bailey Baker and Deacon White to lead from the front as well.
