HAMILTON Kangaroos is the toast of the Hampden Football Netball League division two competition after claiming the premiership on Saturday at Reid Oval, with an emphatic 28-18 victory against Koroit.
Having won through to the grand final from third place the Roos took care of business against the Saints who finished fifth on the ladder.
The first quarter saw the Roos fall behind the Saints, who took the game right up to the more favoured Kangaroos and the Koroit team led 7-6 at the sound of the siren.
Hamilton was woken from that first term slumber and took control of the game in the second quarter to lead at the long break, 13-12 but the game was still there for either team grab.
With the teams returning to the court for the second half, Hamilton took its game up a gear as they doubled the four goals put up by Koroit to take control of the grand final.
The final term was all bout continuing the momentum from the third quarter as Sophie Robinson was named best player on the court with the Roos claiming the title by 10 goals.
“The game started as expected, and was quite physical and close,” Hamilton Kangaroos co-coach, Rebecca Sherlock said.
“It was a great game to be a part of and our girls just stuck to the game plan for the entire game and gradually increased their lead every quarter which saw us come away with the win.
“Sophie Robinson was the division two best-on-court and she played an amazing game in GA where she shot and moved well and stayed strong in a physical circle.
“This was a great result for the club as we worked hard throughout the season and to come away with the win was fantastic.”
