Eagles lose double chance

HAWKESDALE-MACARTHUR has let the Mininera and District Football League double chance slip, falling to Lismore-Derrinallum by 55 points at Hawkesdale Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

The Eagles had the chance to stitch up third position if they defeated the Demons but were outclassed from the outset.

Lismore-Derrinallum led by 15 points at quarter time and had stretched that margin out to 17 by half time.

The second half was when the visitors flexed their muscles, kicking nine goals to three to move into third position with a 16-9 (105) to 8.2 (50) victory in the final round of the home and away season.

Aaron Seabrook was a standout for Hawkesdale-Macarthur, while Lachlan Glare and Patrick Sinnott each kicked two goals for the home side.

Tatyoon d Glenthompson-Dunkeld

THE Rams nearly ended the season with a victory, falling to the Hawks by 14 points at Tatyoon Recreation Reserve.

The visitors started strongly, kicking 3.3 to the Hawks’ 2.0, before the home side bounced back in the second quarter to go into half time leading by 29 points.

Glenthompson-Dunkeld worked hard to reel in the deficit, but was still trailing at the final siren, 16.8 (104) to 18. 10 (118).

Jezza Woods was the Rams’ best, while Zach Burgess kicked six goals.

Penshurst d Ararat Eagles

THE Bombers capped off a strong home and away campaign with yet another percentage-boosting victory at Penshurst Recreation Reserve, this time against the Ararat Eagles.

The home side piled on eight goals in the opening term, before leading by 51 points at half time and eventually winning, 23.23 (161) to 4.9 (33).

Josh Rentsch kicked five majors in a best on ground performance for the Bombers.

Other games

WICKLIFFE-LAKE BOLAC completed a perfect home and away season with a 195-point demolition of the Swans at Caramut Recreation Reserve.

The Magpies led by 97 points at half time and the red and white were unable to match the minor premiers.

SMW Rovers finished their season with an eight-point win against Great Western, 11.12 (78) to 10.10 (70), at Mininera Recreation Reserve.

Woorndoo-Mortlake got the better of Moyston-Willaura at Moyston Recreation Reserve, winning 15.14 (104) to 11.5 (71).
