THE Hamilton Kangaroos were unable to match the intent of the visiting Koroit, going down by 69 points in Hampden Football Netball League round 16 action at Dunkeld on Saturday.
The Roos went into the clash with one of the youngest teams of the season, with juniors, Jack Sobey, Hunter Plush, Tom Fitzgerald and Bailey Clarke making the senior debuts.
The home side started well, kicking four goals to go into quarter time trailing by just seven points, before the deficit grew to 22 points by half time.
Young legs caught up with the team, as the Kangaroos struggled to make inroads in the second half, as the Saints piled on seven goals to zero to claim a 14.14 (98) to 4.5 (29) victory.
Cameron Whyte was the Roos’ best, while Taine Morris kicked two goals in his 150th game.

THE Kangaroos also went down to the Saints in the reserves clash by 45 points.
The home side trailed by 11 points at the main break, with the game still on the line, but Koroit kicked away in the second half to win, 14.8 (92) to 7.5 (47).
Matt Dunn and Allan Martin each kicked two majors for the Kangaroos, with Martin named the team’s best on ground.
The Under-18 clash was the highlight on the footy field for Hamilton, with the Roos destroying the visitors by 96 points to keep their hopes of the minor premiership alive.
A four goals to zero opening quarter set the tone for the clash, with the blue and white leading by 52 points at half time.
Koroit kicked just two behinds in the first half and was kept scoreless after the main break, as Hamilton went on to win, 14.14 (98) to 0.2 (2).
Thomas Calvert bagged six goals for the winners, with Charlie Field named the team’s standout player.
The Roos will face Warrnambool this weekend in the final round, with the winner to claim the minor premiership.
