CASTERTON Sandford enters a new chapter in its club history this weekend, when its first female side plays in a league grand final.
The Cats will face the North Gambier Tigers in the B Final of the Limestone Coast Women’s Football League at Penola, this Sunday and 12.30pm Victorian time.
Unlucky to miss out on finals last season, purely on a one-time performance and denied finals the year before, due to Covid-19 restrictions cutting the season short, the Cats look strong, heading into the weekend’s match.
The Cats met the Tigers just once this season, heading to Vansittart Park for a night match in round two, where they took the win, 44 to nil with a relatively inexperienced side.
Since then, the team has developed into a well-groomed machine and should do well in what will be a good contest on Sunday.
