EAGLES DENT RAMS’ FINALS HOPES

HAWKSDALE-MACARTHUR has dented the finals hopes of Glenthompson-Dunkeld after only three rounds of the 2023 Mininera and District Netball Association season, with a 54-38 victory at Macarthur Recreation Reserve on Saturday.

After losing its first two games of the season, the Rams couldn’t afford to lose a third if its dreams of a finals spot were to be kept alive, but the Eagles never allowed the visitors into the match, as the hosts won the first three quarters on the way to a 16-goal victory.

Opening with a 16-goal first term, the Eagles never took their foot off the accelerator, as the team continued to attack with every possession and turnover, which caused the Rams into playing catch-up netball rather than its usual game plan.

Hawkesdale-Macarthur’s Madison Kelly was voted as best on court, with Mel Blackberry a close second, while Nicky Lowe and Jessica McLeod did all they could in reply for the Rams.

The victory lifts the Eagles to second rung on the ladder, while the Rams are winless in ninth place with only percentage keeping them from the bottom rung.
