Penshurst face toughest test

PENSHURST face the toughest test within the Mininera and District Football League today when it hosts undefeated ladder leaders, Tatyoon at Penshurst Recreation Reserve.

The Bombers are celebrating its First Nations culture through the club in both football and netball with ex-AFL star Nathan Lovett-Murray suiting up for the home side.

Tatyoon is the undoubted favourite to claim the flag this season, but no team is unbeatable, and the Bombers must first believe they can knock off the Hawks, then show they can do so on field.

The home side was without seven regular first grade players last week against Woorndoo-Mortlake and that many holes in a team is always tough to fill despite the best efforts of the reserve’s players brought in.

With all the events that will be staged off the field during the day, it would be the icing on the cake if the club could sing the song after the siren to celebrate one of its biggest ever wins.

Other games

GLENTHOMPSON-DUNKELD will be on the road to Lake Bolac Recreation Reserve to battle Wickliffe-Laker Bolac where a victory may well see the Rams open a two-game gap on ladder from their nearest rivals.

The home side is favoured after a brilliant first nine rounds that saw the Magpies lose only to Tatyoon and the Rams will have to be at their very best to claim the points and cement a finals spot.

IF Hawkesdale-Macarthur want to play finals this season the equation is simple; the team must defeat Ararat at Alexandra Oval today when the two Eagles meet.

A loss for Hawkesdale-Macarthur would end any chance of the team making finals while Ararat can afford a loss and still reach the post season action.

GREAT WESTERN, Woorndoo-Mortlake and SMW Rovers will be too strong for Moyston-Willaura, Lismore-Derrinallum and Caramut respectively.
