PREMIERSHIP glory awaits either Penshurst or Glenthompson-Dunkeld Under-16.5 footballers today when the teams meet in the Mininera and District Football League Grand Final at Mininera Recreation Reserve.
Archie Page (the leading goal kicker and runner-up in the best and fairest vote count for the grade) will be instrumental for Penshurst and must be negated by the Rams backs, while Oscar Hausler, William Bester, Craig James Jackson, Lachlan McDonald and Zane Thomas are also strike weapons for the Bombers.
In reply, the Rams must work as a unit to keep Penshurst from winning the ball and must replicate the form that saw the side record that one win way back in round two.
THE seniors grand final appears to be a case of how far Tatyoon, as Woorndoo-Mortlake battles to win its first ever MDFL premiership.
THE reserves will see Lismore-Derrinallum seek to emulate its second semi-final defeat of minor premier, Ararat Eagles, but the latter should be fully prepared for the Demons this time round.
ARARAT pulled off a shock one-goal victory against minor premier, Tatyoon, in the Mininera and District Netball Association second semi-final and these teams meet again today in the A grade grand final.
It will be another tight contest and the Eagles will have to reproduce that form from two week’s ago to lift the cup, while the Hawks are back to top form and primed for today.
THE B grade game should see Ararat too strong for Tatyoon after the Eagles finished on top of the ladder, while the Hawks finished fourth.
C Grade may well be the start of a senior grades clean sweep for Tatyoon, as the Hawks battle against Penshurst which was minor premier and should lift the silverware.
The top two teams in the 18-and-Under grade, Woorndoo-Mortlake and Penshurst, battle it out today with the Tigers undefeated for the season and expected to finish as premiers.
Penshurst and Wickliffe-Lake Bolac have been the best two teams in 15-and-Unders, and in the only meeting between the sides for the season, it was a win to the Bombers by nine goals - the Magpies’ only loss to date in 2023.
The day will start with the 13-and-Under grand final between Glenthompson-Dunkeld and Penshurst, as the Rams assume favouritism after defeating the Bombers twice this season.
