No mercy shown in derby game

HAMILTON KANGAROOS showed no mercy towards Cavendish in the round three derby match up in the Western Victoria Female Football League at Pedrina Park on Sunday, running out the game 31.20 (206) to 0.0 (0) winners.

The Kangaroos are the reigning premiers, and the Bloods are just starting their football journey, so the game shaped up to be a mismatch, but the Cavendish ladies never stopped chasing even though they failed to score.

The tenacity shown by the visitors in the first half was excellent as they held the home side to only 13 majors by the long break, but after the return to the field for the second half the cream rose to the top as another 18 goals were slammed through.

Mimi Chun booted six, as she was named best on ground for the Roos, but she had great support from Ruby Cleaver, Elise Thurman, Zhane Crawford, Molly Smith, and Carlie Smith.

Cavendish had stars of its own as Kirra Schultz, Stacey Stewart, Nicole Adamson, Laura Downes, Stephanie Granziera, and Natalie Kalms didn’t stop for all four quarters.

Despite the undefeated start to the season, Hamilton Kangaroos are still second on the ladder as South Warrnambool top the ladder on percentage.

The Kangaroos play Warrnambool at Reid Oval this Sunday, while Cavendish are back at home against Horsham.

Under-15 Girls

A THRILLING encounter between Hamilton Kangaroos and Koroit began the day at Pedrina Park on Sunday, as the home side refused to let the Saints run away with the game, fighting out the contest until the final siren going down, 2.4 (16) to 3.3 (21).

The first half was all Koroit as the visitors kicked truly to have three goals straight on the board at the long break to the Kangaroos one behind.

Whatever was in the halftime oranges worked a treat for the home side as they returned to the field reinvigorated and proceeded to dry up the Saints avenues to goal.

The third quarter saw the home side add its first major, while keeping the visitors to only three behinds.

During the final term the defence was even tighter as the Saints remained scoreless, as Hamilton Kangaroos added one goal and one behind to fall agonisingly short as the final siren sounded.

Eloise Millard, Maddox Ryan, Ava Kinnealy, Ruby Cleaver, Shannon Mhasho, and Tatum Bell were hard at the ball all day and were rewarded, named the Kangaroos’ best.

This week the blue and white travel to Gardens Oval in Port Fairy to stage a battle with the locals to see which team will post its first win of the season.
