Community sport resumes after restrictions ease

THE wait is over with many community sporting clubs and associations set to resume events this week following the announcement of regional Victoria moving to the third step of the COVID-19 roadmap from midnight last night.

The loosening of restrictions means non-contact sport can resume for all ages, while contact sport for people 18 years old and younger can also take place.

The Hamilton and District Cricket Association (HDCA) and Far Western Bowls Association (FWBA) weekend pennant seasons could start as scheduled, while the FWBA midweek pennant season was scheduled to start this month and may only be reduced by one or two rounds.

The HDCA’s 2020-21 schedule is set to get underway on October 3 with stand-alone A grade games.
