PLAYERS in Saturday’s stableford event were rugged up to play, as winter has well and truly arrived in Hamilton.
Conditions were cold and damp underfoot, but thankfully play was not interrupted by any rain.
Mark Miller and Steve Natrass both continued their good recent form to be the standout golfers on the course during the round.
Miller emerged as the winner with 39 points and next week will play off a handicap of 12 - his lowest ever.
He also cleaned up by winning the long straightest drive on the ninth, nearest the pin on the fifth and longest putt on the 17th.
Natrass’s score of 38 points was only one off the pace of Miller.
He also also won nearest the pin on the eighth and the birdies and ferrets award along with his runner-up finish.
Miller and Natrass were both well ahead of third-placed David Rendell on 33, who also collected the longest putt on the first.
Other nearest the pin winners were Bruce Taylor on the second and Stewart Turner on the 13th.
Barry Oldaker collected the longest putt on the 16th and Bruce Taylor on the 18th.
Friday’s competition was cancelled due to inclement weather.

Monday
PARKLANDS hosted the Glenelg veterans golf competition on Monday.
Numbers were down due to miserable weather conditions, but no less than 15 men and four women braved the elements.
Mooralla’s Andrew Lewis is well known for his long-hitting and was on song.
His second shot on the 16th travelled well over 200m and pulled up a few metres short of the scrape.
Lewis went on to win A grade with 35 points.
He was just ahead of second-placed Trevor Wathen with 34 points.
Parklands members cleaned up the B grade section with George Donaldson winning with 33 points and Heather Hay finishing second with 29 points.
