Bunker shots

SATURDAY’S stableford competition saw small fields of 40 men and six women respectively.

Kynan Caruna was the overall winner with 36 (17) points on a countback from Shannon Kearns, with both young men continuing their good form.

Third place went to veteran player, Bevon Zimmermann, displacing Tim Lloyd on a countback.

The small field of women saw Alma Fonda again bringing home the winning score with 32 points, followed by Anne Ryan and Di Sevior in third place.

Nearest the pins went to Les Lloyd on the third, Kearns on the sixth, Caruana on the 13th, and Graham Rentsch and Fonda on the 16th.

The closest second shot on the 15th went to Rentsch and Di Raymond.

Tuesday

A FIELD of 11 emerging and beginner golfers enjoyed their day, starting in very thick fog but finishing in beautiful sunshine.

The fog created interesting driving conditions, with all players hitting their ball out of sight.

Some excellent results were achieved for this time of year.

In the beginner group, Jen Upton had 21 points from her nine holes and was closely followed by Aaron Martin and Kerry Martin on 20 points each.

In the emerging group, we welcomed back Camilla Rodwell from her six months away and she showed she hasn't forgotten how to play.

Rodwell, Nicky Martin and Lisa Murphy all came in with 17 points for their nine holes.

Wednesday

IT was the second round of the R.A. Christie Stableford Trophy with 26 ladies competing.

Again, Fonda proved she’s a force to be reckoned with, continuing her winning streak and bringing in a very respectable 36 (17) points.

Fonda was followed by our up-and-coming star, Molly O’Brien, who was close on her heels with 35 (9), with Enid Smith rounding out the top three.

Nearest the pins went to O’Brien on the third, while Gaynor Eats collected the longest putt on the ninth and Liz Nichol collected the honours on the 13th.

The closest second shot on the 15th was won by Fonda, while O’Brien saluted on the 16th.

Upcoming events

TODAY the club will host a men, women and mixed 4BBB stableford event, while the ladies will contest a multiplication stableford pairs event on Wednesday.
