Bunker shots

LAST Saturday was a 4BBB stableford pairs event with any combination, as 88 players participated with Stephen Astbury and Bruce Luhrs claiming first place with 42 points.

The pair won on a countback from Cameron McDonald and Graham Rentsch, while third place went to John Warden and Robert Fishburn on a countback with 41 points.

Balls down the line going to Kynan Caruana, Shannon Kearns, Robert Cunningham and Mal Groves all 41pts, Chris Crane and Paul Ryan 40, along with Mark Brown and Vicki Anderson 39.

Nearest the pins went to Jim King on the third, Bruce Luhrs and Vicki Anderson on the sixth, Mal Groves on the 13th, while Trevor Wathen and Elaine Rentsch saluted on the 16th.

The closest second shot on the 15th went to Jason Chandler and Jo Forsyth, while Kearns claimed the closest second shot on the ninth over 20 handicap.

Tuesday

THE beginner and emerging golfer program continued with 14 players venturing out onto the course on Tuesday.

The beginners group saw Alan McLaughlin return the best score with 18 points, closely followed by Margie Laidlaw 17, and Jen Upton 16.

Alex Ferguson claimed the honours in the emerging group with 21 points from Sally Allen and Camilla Rodwell, who both finished with 18 points.

Wednesday

THE women played multiplication stableford pairs with 16 pairs participating.

Kerryn Price and Debbie Milne combined to take out the winning score with 61 points, sneaking home by one shot from Jo Forsyth and Glen Dixon 60, while third place went to Tania Cullinane and Sarah Paton on 56.

Nearest the pins on the third went to Jo Forsyth, while Nettie Purvis saluted on the sixth and 16th.

The closest second shot on the 15th went to Tania Cullinane, the longest putt on the ninth was won by Helen Beattie, and Forsyth claimed the honour on the 13th.

This week

NEXT Wednesday the women will be playing stableford.

Today is stableford for both men and women.

Out and about

SIX players from Hamilton and Grampians Golf Clubs participated in the Victorian Women’s Country Championships at Cobram Barooga Golf Club.

Congratulations to Glen Dixon who was the winner of the Glenelg Cup with 68 stableford points over the weekend event.

Hit them long and straight and enjoy the 19th hole.
