Parklander candour

SEPTEMBER is upon us and with it comes spring.

All golfers are hoping for some improved weather and drying conditions.

With sunny conditions ahead hopefully, we will enjoy a lot more time out on the golf course and maybe, better scores for some of us.

Saturday

UNDER cloudy skies and with intermittent rain, players contested the Monthly Medal.

Continuing her form from the previous week, Kelly Hitchcock handed in the winning score with a 94-22-72 to win the medal.

Winner of the voucher on a countback from Mark Miller was Dale Grambau, both with a nett 73.

Nearest the pins were awarded to Miller on the second and 15th, Ron Oakley on the third, Allan Hitchcock on the 11th, and Alex Walter on the 13th.

Longest putts went to Peter Irvin on the first, Kelly Hitchcock on the 16th, George Donaldson on the 17th and Allan Hitchcock on the 18th.

To wind up the novelties, Graeme Torney won birdies and ferrets, and Irvin won the putting.

Friday

DUE to the inclement weather, there was no competition.

Wednesday

A BREAK in the weather allowed for a stableford event to be played over twelve holes.

Inspired by the previous weekends golf Bernie Cook won the day with a score of 22 points on a countback from Stewart Turner with Heather Wilkinson coming in third on 21 points.

The nearest the pins went to Barry Oldaker on the second and George Donaldson on the 13th

Longest putt on the first was earned by Wilkinson.

Birdies and ferrets went to Bob Warburton.

Tuesday

AGAIN, due to the extremely wet weather no competition was held.

This week

A STABLEFORD competition will be held on Saturday, all welcome, with a noon start for 12.30pm hit off.

A reminder that our annual tournament will be held from October 2-9.

Put this in your diary and gather up some friends.
