Out and about

HAMILTON had a women’s representative team playing in the Morton Shield which is a matchplay event that has been running for 50 years between Ballarat, Midlands, Buninyong, Chalambar (Ararat), Warrnambool, Portland, Colac and Hamilton Golf Clubs.

The event was played at Warrnambool and possibly with the home ground advantage Warrnambool won the event, with Colac second and Hamilton third.

Hamilton was represented by their pennant players Alma Fonda, Jo Forsyth, Robyn Holcombe, Gerri Griffin, Jenni Pike and Debbie Milne, and won four out of their six matches, and only went down by one shot in the two matches they lost. Next year this event will be played at Colac.

Updates

THE club held its AGM on Tuesday evening and there were two new directors nominated and accepted onto the Board, Anne Cass and Tim Lloyd.

They will join with ongoing Board Director’s Adam Manson, John Hill, Robert Vecchiet, Lyn O'Brien and Stephen Giles.

Retiring board members, Elizabeth Nichol, Malcolm Groves and Di Raymond, were acknowledged and thanked for their contribution.

Trevor Wathen was appointed as the new men's captain and will replace Malcolm Groves, who has been captain for the past 12 years.

Di Raymond will remain as women’s captain.

Another special milestone was the awarding of a life membership to Ian Ferguson. Ian has been an active member of the club for over 40 years, regularly contributing to working bees and maintenance jobs.

He has also been club president and a board member.

A reminder to get your entries in for our annual tournament which will run from November 23-27; for further details contact the club.

Hit them long and straight and enjoy the 19th hole.
