Marion Cowland
MICHELLE Radford and Georgie Bibby are celebrating a win on the last day of the Winter season at the Casterton Golf Club.
The women’s contingent played the Joan Cooper Memorial Day last Wednesday to wrap-up the season – an annual 4-ball-better-ball drawn partners stroke event, sponsored by the Cooper Family in memory of their mother.
Two golfers play as a pair and hit their own balls and record the best score on each hole - the winning team is the pair with the lowest nett score.
Radford and Bibby took out the day with a nett 64, while runners-up were Marion Cowland and Bev Fry, with nett 68.
Nearest the pins were awarded on the 2nd to Bev Fry, the 8th to Michele Radford, the 13th to Denise Gill and the 17th to Dot Norris.
Winter presentations
AFTER two years of inconsistent golf due to pandemic restrictions, it was great to have a ‘normal’ year of women’s golf in 2022.
Thank you to everyone who played golf on Wednesdays, Saturdays or both and even though the numbers were quite small at times, many great days of golf were enjoyed by all.
Thank you to the members who travelled to represent the Casterton Golf Club at events and tournaments.
The championships were held during the year and the winner of the Women’s Open Championship was Heather Gill and the B Grade winner was Sharon McGrath.
Thank you to every member – whether out on the course, in the kitchen, behind the bar or just enjoying a cuppa in the clubhouse – for the friendly and welcoming atmosphere conveyed by all, which is always great the see and makes the Casterton Golf Club such a great place to be.
