Bunker shots

SIXTY-FIVE men and 22 women played in Saturday’s stableford event.

There were some very good scores recorded, which reflects the course’s dryness and good conditions. 

Danny Franc had the round of the day with an amazing 49 points, and the men will be queuing to play with Danny in a 4BBB with such a great individual score.

A grade was a close affair with John Hill claiming first place with 39 points on a countback from Adam Manson.

B grade winner was Danny Franc with Graeme Mustow coming runners up with 39 points.

Ball run down went to Alan Oakley and Rob Vecchiet 38 points, Mal Groves, Rob Stagoll and Terry Dunn 37, Marten Chin and Kim Fielke 36, Shane Ryan, Mark Brown, Tyler Hards, Tim Walkenhorst, Chris Crane and Troy Elliott 35, and Les Lloyd 34.

Nearest the pins went to Kim Fielke on the third, Chuck Raymond on the sixth, Jim King on the 13th, and Stagoll 16th and Noel Jennings hit the closest second shot on the 15th.

Up-and-coming golfer, Chantal Butcher, also had a day out with 41 points.

Runner-up was Molly O’Brien with 38 points, with ball run down going to Deb Pinniger 37, Robyn Holcombe 35, Nola Beks, Lyn O’Brien and Di Sevior all with 34.

Nearest the pins were Enid Smith on the third, O’Brien claimed the 6th and 16th holes, and Deb Pinniger struck the closest second shot on the 15th.

Tuesday

IT was back to wet and wintry conditions for the Tuesday beginners and emerging golfers with six players participating.

Leonie Schurmann claimed top spot with 17 points from Helen Dillon with 16.

The Tuesday group will take a break until January 10, before playing weekly until 31st January.

The new beginners and emerging golfer’s clinic will commence on February 14 and interested players are encouraged to contact the club to book a place.

Wednesday

DECEMBER’S Monthly Medal attracted 24 women, as O’Brien continued her good form from Saturday to win with 80 off the stick to finish with nett 71.

Our amazing Ath Archer, who at the age of 89 continues to be an example of how age is not a barrier in golf, finished second with 88/15 nett 73.

Balls down the line went to Alma Fonda, Jen Pike and Glen Dixon 77 nett, Sue Walter and Lyn Satchell 78 nett.

Nearest the pins went to Lyn Satchell on the third, Archer on the sixth, and Di Raymond on the 16th.

The longest putt on the 13th went to Jen Pike and O’Brien scooped the closest second shot on the 15th.

Putting was won by Jo Forsyth with 28 putts.

Next Wednesday the women will be having a bit of fun with a three sticks and a putter event and it will be interesting to see the scores.

Out and about

CONGRATULATIONS to Hamilton Golfer, Tony O’Connor, for winning the Glenelg Veterans Aggregate Trophy for 2022.

The event was held over 10 rounds.

Today is a par event for men and women.

Good hitting and enjoy the 19th hole.
