PARKLANDS 2023 Ladies Championships was played over four stroke rounds with the best three being counted for the final score.

After the four rounds were complete, Irene Box and Kelly Hitchcock were tied at the top of the leader’s board with each golfer having to play another few holes to determine the winner.

Resulting in Irene Box being crowned the Scratch champion, while the Handicap champion went to  Kelly Hitchcock. Congratulations Ladies.

SATURDAY

Low scores were the order of the day on a heavy course that had a deluge fall on it in the days leading up to the day as the members teed off in a stableford event. 

Winner: Kelly Hitchcock 34 points, Barry Oldaker 33, Mitch Miller 31 on a countback from  Dale Grambau and Vince O’Brien, both with  30 points.

Nearest the pin: 3rd,5th & 13th Dale Grambau, 2nd Barry Oldaker, 8th Graeme Torney

Longest Putt: 1st & 8th Allan Hitchcock, 16th Mitch Miller and on the 17th Graeme Torney.

Longest/Straightest Drive 9th Barry Oldaker Birdies/Ferrets Steve Nattrass

MONDAY

Parklands Golf Club hosted a round of the Glenelg Veteran’s Golf association with many comments on the good condition of the course, which is a tribute to the work done by our volunteer’s, a job well done everyone.

TUESDAY

A two-person ambrose was played in pleasant conditions with the winners being Toby Salter and Jenny Row with a net 58 1/2 Runners-up Gina Kelly and Irene Box 61 1/2.

Nearest the pin: 5th & 13th Irene Box , 8th Mary McCallum, 15th Jenny Row.

Longest Putt: 17th Gaye Goggin, 18th Heather Hay

Longest/straightest drive 9th: Toby Salter

Birdies/Ferrets: Heather Wilkinson.

WEDNESDAY 

The Heavens Open up and no sane golfer would venture out in those conditions.

FRIDAY

A surprising number of golfers contested the Stroke event over the old Nine Holes. and the drains were not a place to be the rough seemed to be a better option for play.

Winner: Barry Oldaker nett 34.5 on a countback from Bruce Taylor.

NTP: 13th Stewart Turner LP: 1st Stewart Turner.
