IT was normal golf day conditions for this time of the year, starting in fine weather ending with the last group experiencing showers for Saturday’s three-person gentsomes event at Parklands Golf Club.
George Donaldson, Vincent O’Brien and Mitch Miller combined for a score of 84 to claim the win ahead of runner-up trio of Barry Oldaker, Bruce Taylor and Alex Walter, who finished three shots off the pace.
Nearest the pins went to Miller on the third, Taylor on the fifth, Oldaker on the eighth and Donaldson on the 13th.
Longest putts went to Graeme Torney on the first and 16th, Stewart Turner on the 17th, and Oldaker on the 18th, while birdies and ferrets went to Alex Walter.
Friday
A NINE-HOLE stroke event over the old nine-hole course had a thrilling finish on Friday.
It was tightly contested by the executive committee with the men’s captain recording a half-shot victory over the treasurer.
Barry Oldaker shot nett 33.5 to hold off Peter Irvin by the narrowest of margins, who returned with nett 34.
Nearest the pins went to Oldaker on the second and 13th, while longest putt honours went to Irvin, and birdies and ferrets went to Miller.
Wednesday
CONDITIONS were ideal for golf with the fairways having been cut and the sun shining two of our ever-present volunteers took full advantage in the 13-hole stableford event.
Irvin saluted with with 26 points to win by three ahead of Taylor with 23.
Nearest the pins went to Taylor on the second and fifth, along with Irvin on the 13th.
Longest putt went to Irvin and John Wilkinson picked up the birdies and ferrets.
Tuesday
SCORES reflected the 18-hole stableford played from the 150-metre mark.
This length seemed to suit some players extremely well.
Marie Cook won with 53 points ahead of runner-up, Gaye Goggin, who returned to the clubhouse with 50 Points.
Nearest the pins went to Marie Cook on the fifth, while longest putts went to Sue Irvin on the first and Marie Cook on the 17th and 18th.
Birdies and ferrets went to Irene Box.
