Parklander candour

A DEFINITION of sport - improving physical fitness, mental wellbeing, forming social relationships.

With all these elements in mind, the Parklands Golf Club ladies golfers headed off on their annual trip away.

Playing Chalambar in Ararat, Grange in Stawell and Mt Difficult in Halls Gap, with Heather Hay crowned the overall winner and receiving the perpetual trophy for being the most consistent over all days.

Saturday

IT was a two-person ambrose played in ideal conditions with Bruce Taylor and Stewart Turner returning with 63.25 nett to win ahead of Graeme Torney and Mitch Miller with 66.5.

Nearest the pins went to George Donaldson on the second, Taylor on the fifth, Tim Walter on the 11th, Turner on the 13th, and Torney on the 15th.

Longest putts went to Taylor on the first, Torney on the 16th, along with Allan Flavell on the 17th and 18th, while Turner claimed the birdies and ferrets.

Wednesday

ALEX Walter seems to enjoy the 12-hole stableford format once again, claiming the win with 26 points.

Second went to Turner one point back, while Bernie Cook was third with 24 points.

Nearest the pins went to Cook on the second, Donaldson on the 13th, and Barry Oldaker on the 15th.

Taylor holed the longest putt.

Friday

IT was a twilight nine-stroke off the red tees, with Taylor returning a score of 33.5 nett to win ahead of Vince O'Brien 34.5 on countback from Donaldson.

Oldaker was nearest the pin on the 13th, Taylor saluted on the 15th and Donaldson struck the longest putt.

Upcoming events

THE club’s annual presentations will take place at the clubhouse at approximately 6pm on Saturday, following the Saturday 18-hole Stableford event.

A barbecue tea will be supplied; members are required to provide a salad or sweet to share.
