SATURDAY was the final for the Monthly Medal winners, playing off in a stroke event for the medal of medallists at Hamilton Golf Club.
The finalists were John Hill, Noel Jennings, Kedar Giles, Kynan Caruana, Glenn Hards, Shane Ryan, Jason Chandler, George McLean (two medal wins), Paul Ryan and Michael Holcombe.
Unfortunately, Noel Jennings and Kynan Caruana were away, which left a field of nine players contesting the final.
It was was rather challenging, damp conditions and Ryan was the eventual winner with a 74 nett, one shot ahead of Kedar Giles on 75 nett.
Two other main trophies were announced on Saturday being the Captain’s Trophy (best six nett rounds over Monthly Medals) and the Hamilton Golf Club Cup (best six scratch scores over Monthly Medals).
The winner of the Captain’s Trophy was Caruana, who has played very consistent golf this year.
Caruana finished with 436 to win by one shot from George McLean, who has also had a very good year on the golf course.
The Hamilton Golf Club Cup was won by Jason Chandler with 463 off the stick from Graham Rentsch’s 478.
Saturday’s main stableford competition saw with 45 men and three women participate.
Warren Butcher had the stand out score of the round with 42 points to win B grade, eight clear of runner-up Nathan Caruana, with Les Lloyd third on a countback with 33.
A grade winner after a three-way countback was Mark O’Brien from Chuck Raymond and Tim Lloyd, after they all finished with 36 points.
Balls down the line were Troy Elliott, Eli Potts, Steven Coate 34, Chris Crane, Rob Vecchiet and James MacKirdy 33.
Nearest the pin on the third went to Graeme Mustow, the sixth went to Warren Butcher, Eli Potts on the 16th, and the closest second shot on the ninth was struck by Rentsch.
The women’s section was very close with Molly O’Brien winning with 30 points, while Robyn Holcombe and Enid Smith both finish on 29.
Molly took out nearest the pin on 16th hole and second shot on the 15th.
Wednesday
THE women played for December’s Monthly Medal, and Jenny Edwards claimed the prize with 102 (31) 71 nett.
Runner-up was Bronwyn Dwight with 73 nett in B grade standings.
A grade was won by Kerryn Price 80 (8) 72 nett, with Ath Archer second with 73 nett.
Balls down the line went to Bev Tyson 74 nett, Rachel Slade and Di Hatherell 75 nett, Sue Vickery 76 nett, Jeanette Carmichael and Sue Bensch 77 nett.
Nearest the pin on the third was won by Jenny Fishburn, 16th went to Sue Vickery, while the closest second shot on the 15th went to Pam White, and Liz Nichol sank the longest putt on the 13th.
Tuesday
NEXT week is the final session for Tuesday beginners, emerging and nine-hole competition for this year.
These events will return on January 9 and run again for three weekly sessions.
A new intake for anyone interested in learning golf is planned to commence on February 13.

TODAY’S event is stableford for both men and women.
The Christmas ambrose event, which is for teams of four any combination will be held tomorrow, 11am for 11.30am shotgun start.
