Parklander candour

IT was another strong Saturday outing with players contesting an 18-hole stableford aggregate event at Parklands Golf Club.

Graeme Torney and Wayne Rowlands combined to collect 69 points to claim victory ahead of runners-up, Barry Oldaker and George Donaldson, who were two points off the pace.

Nearest the pins went to Mitch Miller on the third, Dave Moller on the fifth, Bruce Taylor on the seventh and 13th, and Graeme Torney on the 11th.

The longest putts went to Torney on the first, Mary McCallum on the 16th, Donaldson on the 17th and Heather Hay on the 18th.

John Wilkinson collected the birdies and ferrets.

Friday

THERE was a nine-hole stroke event on Friday with Donald topping the ranks with 41-5.5-35.5 nett, ahead of Taylor, who finished second on a countback with 40-3-37.

Bernie Cook finished third with 46-9-37, and also collected the nearest the pin prize on the 13th.

Oldaker won the birdies and ferrets.

Wednesday

THE 13-hole stableford was played across the front nine along with holes 10, 13, 14 and 18.

Peter Irvin won the day with 28 points, holding off Les Pye and Donaldson who both returned to the clubhouse with 26 points.

Pye held onto second place on countback.

Nearest the pins went to Pye on the second and John Wilkinson on the 13th.

Longest putt on the first went to Oldaker, while Heather Wilkinson grabbed the birdies and ferrets.

Tuesday

IT was another stableford round played on Tuesday and it was the first game played so far this year in what would be classed hot summer conditions.

Some Ladies only played nine holes and the others soldiered on to complete a stableford event. 

Sue Irvin won on a countback from Marie Cook after both scored 32 points, while Gaye Goggin finished third with 30 points.

Nearest the pins went to Heather Wilkinson on the fifth, Goggin on the seventh and Sue Irvin on the 15th.

Goggin also collected the longest putt on the first, while Heather Wilkinson holed out on the 17th and Irene Box on the 18th.

Sue Irvin hit the longest straightest drive on the ninth, while Marie Cook won the birdies and ferrets.
