THE lack of rain has the course dry with a lot of run with the Summer Rating still in place, helping handicaps to not fall like a pack of cards.
Saturday
A CANADIAN event attracted a good field amid pleasant conditions, with husband and wife combinations impressing on the day.
Peter and Sue Irvin combined to win with 72 nett from Heather and John Wilkinson with nett 72 5/8.
Vince O'Brien and Barry Oldaker finished third with 74 3/8.
Nearest the pins went to Terry Rhook on the second, while the seventh was won by Vince O'Brien, 11th Peter Irvin, 13th George Donaldson and 15th Allan Flavell.
The longest putts went to George Donaldson on the first, the 16th was holed by Graeme Torney, 17th Heather Wilkinson and 18th Ron Oakley.
The longest, straightest drive on the ninth went to Sue Irvin, while Rhook won the birdies and ferrets.
Friday
IT was a nine-hole twilight stroke round, with Les Pye winning with 38.5 points, finishing one point clear of runner-up, Bernie Cook.
George Donaldson was third with 40 points.
Nearest the pins went to Bernie Cook on the second and Les Pye on the fifth, while the longest putt went to Donaldson.
Heather Wilkinson collected the birdies and ferrets.
Wednesday
A 12-HOLE stableford event held over the inward nine plus holes one, two and nine.
This event was a close contested game, with Mark Miller winning on a countback from Alex Walter after both finished on 25 points.
Third on a countback was John Wilkinson from Les Pye and Barry Oldaker with 23 points.
Pye was nearest the pin on the 13th, while Alex Walter hit the longest putt on the first.
Birdies and ferrets went to Mark Miller.
Tuesday
ANOTHER stableford event was played on Tuesday, with a smaill field of ladies taking to the course.
Gaye Goggin topped the scores with 35 points ahead of runner-up, Gina Kelly, who returned with 33.
Nearest the pins went to Gina Kelly on the fifth, while Mary McCallum scooped the prizes on the 13th and 15th.
The longest putts went to Sue Irvin on the first and 17th, as well as the birdies and ferrets.
This week
WEDNESDAY is a 13-hole event across the outward nine along with holes 10, 13, 14 and 18, while Friday will be the last of the club’s twilight nine-hole events.
Saturday will see players contest an 18-hole stableford round.
