A FIELD of 56 men and 28 women played in Saturday’s stableford event.
Player of the day was Harry Armstrong, who finished with a very handy 43 points, which included winning the super pin on the third hole ($100).
The A grade winer was Nathan Caruana, who continues to play good golf with his handicap now down to 14; he will be off single figures soon.
Caruana finished with 40, to finish ahead of runner-up, Chris Crane, with 36 with third spot going to Chris Eales one point further back.
B grade was won by Armstrong with 43, while Matt Hill was runner-up on a countback from Jack Hutchins after both scored 38.
Balls down the line went to Trevor Haley and Samuel Hill 36, Bevon Zimmermann, Sam Plush and Greg Stevens 35, Steven Coate, John Warden and David Edwards 34.
Nearest the pin and super pin on third hole Armstrong, Stevens on the sixth, the 13th was won by Tim Lloyd, and the 16th went to John Warden.
The closest second shot on the ninth went to Crane and Troy Elliott on the 15th.
In the ladies event, Lisa Murphy had a great round, winning with 39, ahead of Rita Walkom, who was runner-up on a countback from Helen Beattie after both scored 36.
Balls down the line went to Jo Forsyth 35, Sally Warburton 34, Robyn Holcombe, Bev Tyson 33, Pam White and Debbie Milne 32.
Nearest the pin on the third was won by Margie Hadley, the sixth went to Jenny Hurse, the 16th Bev Tyson, and closest second shot on the 15th was won by Milne.
Wednesday
THE women played a gentsomes event in teams of three and there were some fabulous scores recorded.
The winning team was Di Raymond, Hadley and Leanne Rhook with 99 points, ahead of runners-up, Tania Cullinane, Chantal Butcher and Lisa Murphy on 98.
Third spot went to Sue Walter, Karen Payne and Bev Tyson on 96, fourth was Fiona Robertson, Carolyn Lewis and Liz Nichol 92, and fifth went to Lyn Satchell, Rhonda Scullion and Jo Brown 91.
Nearest the pin on the third was won by Anne Ryan, the sixth hole was won by Walkom, the 16th went to Satchell.
The closest second shot on the 15th went to Karen Payne and the longest putt on the 13th was holed by Deb Pinniger.
Next week is the monthly medal, stroke and putting event.
Tuesday
SEVENTEEN players were on the course for the beginners, emerging and nine-hole competition events.
The nine-hole event winner was Lesley Toyer with 16 points.
In the emerging group there were some great scores with Helen Dillon and Jen Upton both on 24, with Jan Hornell on 21.
The beginners group saw Sally Bensch and Robert Claffey both finish with 36, closely followed by Cate Mercer-Grant on 34 and Kris Fox 33.
Elders Rural Challenge
THE annual Elders Rural Challenge had a great field and the weather was perfect for golf.
The winning team was Finchetts, made up of Rhys Malseed, Marcus Rhook, Lachie McKenzie and James Brown.
Runners-up were UTF Australia, with third spot going to Elder’s Merchandise side.
Out and about
HAMILTON golfers have been out and about playing in various events across the region.
Congratulations to Wendy and Trevor Wathen, who were runners-up in the Victorian Veterans 4BBB stroke event played at Buninyong Golf Club.
Another team to have success was Kerryn Price, Forsyth and Robyn Holcombe, who won the Jean Whitehead Bowl at Port Fairy.
This is the first time a Hamilton team has won this event in the 40 years it has been running.
Forsyth also won the B grade scratch and Enid Smith won the B grade handicap in this event.

THE club will host their annual Rose Bowl event on April 24 and it will be for teams of three women from the same club playing a stroke event.
