THE Parklands Golf Club hosted its annual Anti-Cancer Day fundraiser on Saturday, with all proceeds going to Western District Health Service’s cancer efforts.
Heather Hay won the ladies stableford event with 41 points, finishing one point clear of Marie Cook, while Mark Miller won the men’s section with 38, while Bruce Taylor was runner-up with 36 points.
Nearest the pins went to Laura Hitchcock and Taylor on the second, Kelly Hitchcock & Ron Oakley on the third, Cook and Ron Oakley on the fifth, Hitchcock and Andrew Coyne on the seventh, Hitchcock and Barry Oldaker on the 11th, Jenny Row and Bernie Cook on the 13th, and Marie Cook and Vince O’Brien on the 15th.
Longest putts went to Marie Cook and Oakley on the first, Marie Cook and Stewart Turner on the 17th, and Marie Cook and Dale Grambau on the 18th.
Hay and Bernie Cook hit the longest straightest drive on the ninth, with Oakley collecting the birdies and ferrets.
Friday
THE nine-hole stroke event over the old nine saw George Donaldson win with 40-11.5- 28.5, just clear of Miller in second with 36-6-30.
Peter Irvin was third with 44-11-33, while Miller was nearest the pin on the second, Irvin on the 13th, while longest putt went to Donaldson.
Thursday
THE stroke event doubled as the fourth round of ladies championship and was won by Irene Box 89-20-69, ahead of Marie Cook 100-27-73, and Heather Hay 112-35-77.
Nearest the pins were Box on the fifth and seventh, Hitchcock on the 13th and 15th, while longest putts went to Box on the first and Hay on the 17th and Jaymie Board on the 18th.
Longest straightest drive on the ninth went to Row, and Marie Cook won the birdies ferrets.
Ladies championship scratch winner was Board 268 points and Mary McCallum topped the handicap scores with 216.
Wednesday
THE nine-hole event over the inward nine was won by Oldaker with 18 points on a countback from Alex Walter.
Third was Bernie Cook on a countback from Bill Evans with 17 points.
Walter was nearest the pin on the 13th and longest putt on the 18th was Bernie Cook.
Oldaker won the birdies and ferrets.
Tuesday
THE stroke event was also the third round of ladies championships, and first and second rounds were played in perfect conditions, while the third round was more challenging.
It was a three-way countback at the top of the leader board with Hitchcock 89- 18- 71 winning from McCallum 102- 31- 71 and Broad 90- 19- 71.
Nearest the pins went to Marie Cook on the fifth and 15th Marie Cook, Box on the seventh and Broad on the 13th.
Longest putts went to Box on the first and Hitchcock on the 17th and 18th.
Longest, straightest drive on the ninth was Box, and Marie Cook claimed the birdies and ferrets.
