JOHN Warden collected the Men’s Spectator Trophy, finishing with +1, to hold off Jim King on -3 and Chuck Raymond on -7.
The event was played recently and inclueded a round of stroke, stableford and par, with the par round worth double points.
Saturday
A FIELD of 59 men participated in a pinehurst event, with John Hill and Trevor Wathen winning with 71 nett from John Mitchell and Michael Holcombe 71.25 nett, and Jan Kautsky and Robert Vecchiet 73.375.
Ball run down went to Eli Potts and Shannon Kearns 73.625, Raymond and Marten Chin 73.75, James Barber and Jackson Hay 74.375, Graham Rentsch and Mal Groves 74.625, Stephen Astbury and Bruce Luhrs 74.875, and David Robertson and Dan Tehan 75.
Nearest the pin on the third hole and superpin winner was Mark O’Brien, also claiming the sixth.
The 13th was won by Warden and 16th by Chris Crane.
The closest second shot on the ninth was Eli Potts and Les Lloyd on the 15th.
There were 19 ladies playing stableford with Margie Hadley winning on a countback from Cindy McLeish, visiting from Thirteenth Beach Golf Club, after both scored 33 points.
Balls down the line went to Dawn Cay, Sally Warburton, Wendy Wathen and Pam White.
Nearest the pin on the third went to Di Sevior, the sixth was won by Dawn Cay, the 13th went to Molly O’Brien, 16th Wendy Wathen, and O’Brien also struck the closest second shot on the 15th.
Wednesday
THE women held their Gala Day with a great field of 80 players.
In another very close event after some double checking on the computer system, the eventual winners were Enid Smith and Martina Whelan with 75.125, ahead of Robyn Holcombe and Alma Fonda 77.62 nett, Jo Forsyth and Robyn Hose 78.87 nett, Jenny Edwards and Kerryn Collins 79.5 nett, and Lisa Murphy and Jeanette Carmichael 79.62.
Nearest the pin on third went to Holcombe (local) and Whelan (visitor), the sixth was won by Joan Lewis and Ann Dickinson, and the 16th went to Rita Walkom and Whelan.
Bec Small holed the longest putt on the 13th, while the longest drive on the 18th was won by Sue Walter (local) and Kathy Sommerville (visitor).
Tuesday
ANOTHER great turn up for our Tuesday golfers, with ideal conditions.
The nine-hole competition was won by Lesley Toyer with 18 points from Marg Langford on 13.
The beginners group recorded some fantastic scores, with Robert Claffey taking the honours on 26, just one point ahead of Kris Fox, and rounding out the placings was Sally Bensch with 22.
The emerging golfers also produced some great scores with Alan McLaughlan winning on 24 from Louise Kelson and Jen Upton both on 22.
Upcoming events
THERE is a paint and sip night at the clubhouse on June 14 at 6.30pm.
This was a very popular event last time, so get in early if you would like to participate.
The club is running a nine-hole event on a Friday afternoons; hit off after 2.30pm, $15 which includes golf and a schooner or a glass of wine.
