BUNKER SHOTS

Saturday

SIXTY-FIVE men and 11 women played in Saturday’s stableford competition,  where the A grade winner was Mal Groves with a very good score of 38 points, winning by two points from John Hill who claimed runner-up on a countback from Ben Kelson, both on 36 points.

B grade winner and round of the day went to Nathan Caruana 39 points, with Shannon Kearns also posting a great score to come runner-up with 38 points, John Raymond took out third spot on 34 points.

C grade was decided on a three-way countback with Rob Harris claiming top spot from runner-up Jackson Hay and third spot going to Nicholas Armstrong all on 36 points.

 Balls down the line went to Steven Coate, Peter Fox, Greg Stevens, Kynan Caruana all 34 points, Danny Franc and Noel Jennings 33 points.

Nearest the pin on the third hole and superpin winner was Chuck Raymond taking home $98, the sixth hole was won by Jason Chandler, 13th Kevin King, 16th Nathan Caruana.

Second shot on ninth hole went to Craig Stagoll and second shot on the 15th Mal Groves.

The women’s section saw Michelle Walkley have a great score finishing with 42 points, while the runner-up was Robyn Holcombe with 36 points.

Ball down the line went to Jo Forsyth 34 points.

Vicki Anderson was the only one to get on a par 3 taking out nearest the pin on the 16th hole.

Wednesday

Twenty-seven women lined up for the par event on Wednesday, with Rosemary Belcher continuing her good form to win with plus two, runner-up was Bronwyn Dwight on a countback finishing with minus one.

Balls down the line went to Rose Tonissen ,minus one, Sue Bensch and Gaynor Eats minus two, Pam King and Fiona Robertson minus three, Cheryl Brinkmann minus four, Wendy Wathen and Elaine Rentsch minus five.

Nearest the pin on the third hole was Cheryl Brinkmann, the sixth hole went to Helen Holcombe, 16th was Eileen Robertson, longest putt on the 13th belonged to Marlene Clarke, second shot on 15th went to Rose Tonissen.

Next week is July monthly medal, stroke and putting event.

Tuesday

Seventeen players took to the course for our beginners, emerging and  nine-hole competition, where we welcomed a new player, Judy Ford, who played in our beginner group coming runner-up with 27 points from the very consistent Robert Claffey with a very handy 31 points.

In the emerging group Helen Dilon had 21 points, closely followed by Jen Upton and Kerry Martin on 19 points while Jill Walkenhorst won the nine-hole competition with 16 points.

Upcoming events

There will be a junior golf coaching clinic being held in the school holidays. The clinic will be run by our visiting professional Craig Davis with local talent Molly O’Brien lending a hand. The clinic will be held on Tuesday 2nd July. There is a two-hour clinic for more advanced junior 12 years or over, 10am to 12noon, followed by 9 holes of golf. The other clinic is, “come and try golf”  for 8-17 years, which will be held from 1-2pm.

Today’s event is par for both men and women.

Hit them long and straight and enjoy the 19th hole.
