PARKLANDS Golf Club has been given the honour of hosting the Victorian Veterans Golf Association Sandgreen Championships for 2024.
Competition commences with a 4BBB stableford on Monday the 12th of August and the Singles State Championship on Tuesday the 13th of August, this is also a stableford event.
Both day’s events are open to Ladies and Men.

Tuesday
A TWO person Ambrose, draw for partners, was played in very brisk conditions.
The winners were Irene Box and Gina Kelly with a nett 66 from Mary McCallum and Heather Wilkinson with a nett 74.75.
Nearest the pins on the fifth, Gaye Goggin, seventh, 13th and 15th Irene Box.
Longest putt on the first and 18th Toby Salter.
Birdies and Ferrets, Margaret Donehue.
Wednesday
LES Pye was the winner of today’s 13-hole stableford event with 28 points holding off Bruce Taylor and Barry Oldaker who finished with 26 and 25 points respectively.
Nearest the pin on the second hole was Les Pye with Alex Walter taking the honours on the fifth and Barry Oldaker had the longest putt on the first.
Friday
THE nine-holes stroke event playing the “old” nine with an octogenarian Les Pye taking on all comers to win with a nett 33 from George Donaldson 34.5 and Stewart Turner 35.5.
There was talk it was the new golf shoes.
Nearest the pins were Bruce Taylor on the second and Stewart Turner on the 13th.
Longest putt was George Donaldson on the first.
Saturday
A PAR event was played in very cool conditions with passing showers.
George Donaldson with -1 took the prize from Alex Walter -3 second on a countback from Bruce Taylor.
Nearest the pins were Alex Walter on the second hole, Graeme Torney on the third, George Donaldson on the fifth and seventh, Bruce Taylor on the 11th and Mitch Miller on the 13th.
Longest putters were Bruce Taylor on the first hole, Alex Walter on the 16th and 18th and Graeme Torney on the 17th.
Alex Walter also landed the longest straightest drive on the 9th.
This Week
NORMAL weekly competitions, Wednesday 12-hole stableford and Friday nine-hole stroke, 12 midday all welcome.
Saturday’s stroke event will be the 3rd round of the Men’s Club Championships and the Regional Butchers Monthly Medal.
Tuesday competition is an 18-hole stableford, 9.30am, all welcome.
