Saturday

A SMALLER field of players participated on Saturday in rather challenging conditions, with 38 men and six women taking to the course.

The conditions did not seem to affect our men’s winner, Jack Sobey, who finished with a very handy 41 points to win by one shot from Nicholas Armstrong, with Kynan Caruana rounding out the placings with 37.

Balls down the line went to Bruce Luhrs and Tom Sobey 36 points, Jason Chandler and Shane Ryan 34, Ken Wright 33, Trevor Haley, Chuck Raymond and Jim King 32.

Nearest the pin and superpin winner was Steve Milne, taking home $52, while John Warden won the sixth, Jason McIntosh on the 13th, and Jackson Hay on the 16th.

The closest second shot on the eighth went to Shane Ryan, and Jason Chandler on the 15th.

In the women’s competition, Robyn Holcombe won with 27 points from Joan Lewis on 25.

Nearest the pin on the third hole went to Joan Lewis.

Wednesday

A FIELD of 38 women took part in the final round of the RA Christie Trophy on Wednesday, which was a par event.

It was good to have Di Raymond back on the course and in form after a recent holiday, winning A grade after finishing square, with Venita Mibus runner-up on a countback with -2.

B grade was won by Jenny Edwards finishing with +1, one clear of runner-up, Lisa Murphy.

Balls down the line went to Pam White square, Deirdre Simkin -1, Jeanette Carmichael, Lyn Satchell, Kerryn Price, Helen Beattie, Rita Walkom and Karen Payne all finishing -2.

Nearest the pin on the third hole went to Fran McMeel, the sixth went to Price, and Deirdre Simkin on the 16th.

The longest putt on the 13th was holed by Liz Nichol.

The winner of the RA Christie Trophy will be announced at end of year presentations.
