THE men played the first round of the Rountree Hyslop Cup 4BBB par and it was great to see two father and son combinations winning and finishing runner-up on Saturday.
Jack Sobey combined with his dad Tom to finish with a fantastic score of +13, with Zac Elliott and his dad Troy two shots behind on +11.
Balls down the line went to Jason Chandler and Warren Butcher, Chris Crane and Stephen Astbury +9, Eli Potts and Ken Wright, and Doug Francis and Trevor Haley +8.
Nearest the pin on the third hole and superpin winner this week was Ross Murray, who took home $63.
Nearest the pin on the sixth hole went to Chris Crane, Graham Rentsch on the 13th, and Zac Elliott on the 16th.
The closest second shot on the ninth going to Jason Chandler and Warren Butcher on the 15th.
The second round of this event will be played on October 12.
The women played stableford and Chantal Butcher continues with her great form, finishing with a very handy 38 points, which should see her lose at least one shot off her handicap.
Runner-up was Joan Lewis on 36, with Di Raymond third with 35.

Wednesday
IN heavy and wet conditions, 14 brave ladies took to the course to contest the Captain’s Trophy.
Jeanette Carmichael took out the honours with 31 points, one shot ahead of runner-up, Robyn Holcombe.
Nearest the pin on the third hole was Anne Ryan, while Carmichael saluted on the sixth, and Kerryn Price on the 16th.
Longest putt on the 13th was holed by Lyn Satchell.
Next Wednesday the women will be playing for the October Monthly Medal in a stroke event.
Tuesday
THE Tuesday beginners and emerging golfers played in ideal conditions and the scores continue to improve.
In the beginner section, Kris Fox and Lousie Field both returned 18 points.
In the emerging group, James Bull won with 20 points with Alan McLaughlin, Kerry Martin, Karyn Dyson and Jen Upton all scoring 17.
Monday
THE Glenelg Veterans held a stableford event at Hamilton with a good field of 47 players.
The A grade winner was Jim King with 36 points from Bill Richards on 34.
B grade was won by Ann Dickinson with 32 on a countback from Bev Tyson.
Balls down the line went to Patrick Withers 33, Peter Novotny, Trevor Wathen, John Raymond, Barry Oldaker, Ron Taylor all with 32, Bill Tyson, Michael Dalton, Ian Taylor, Rob Harris, Jenny Hurse, and Tony O’Connor with 31.

THE results are in for the Thirsty Thursday competition.
The competition has been running from March 28 and finished on September 12, and the scoring total is based on the 10 best rounds in that period.
The winner was Jim King with 351, finishing ahead of runner-up, Wayne Picken, who scored 341, while third spot went to Trevor Wathen on 340.
There are two Pink Day fundraisers this year - the women will be holding a 4BBB on October 16 and then there is also a four-person ambrose (any combination) on October 20.
