Parklander candour

PARKLANDS Golf Club held its Annual General Meeting last Monday night, and new president, Marie Cook, was voted in.

The club congratulates her on her appointment.

Sunday’s working bee was a success, thanks to the dedication, skills and equipment provided by our members a hugely successful clean up was held, with many branches overhanging the fairways trimmed. 

The clean-up of branches was continued by our regular Tuesday and Thursday volunteers. 

Much thanks to all our volunteers.

Tuesday

THE winner of this week’s 18-hole stableford event was Cook with 37 stableford points, finishing ahead of runner-up, Toby Salter, who collected 34 points.

Nearest the pin on the on the seventh and 15th was Cook and Sue Irvin saluted on the 13th.

The longest putt on the first was holed by Heather Wilkinson, Gaye Goggin on the 17th, and Cook on the 18th.

Heather Hay won the birdies and ferrets.

Wednesday

ALEX Walter was the winner with an impressive 30 points, in a 12-hole competition. 

Second was Bernie Cook on 28 points, followed by Stewart Turner on 27.

Nearest the pin on the second was Alex Walter, and Barry Oldaker on the 13th.

Paul Lowry claimed the longest putt on the first, with Oldaker winning the birdies and ferrets.

Friday

DUE to extreme heat conditions, last week’s $5 Fun Friday golf was cancelled.

We will be back next Friday for some fun golf, all welcome at 4.45pm, no experience necessary.

Saturday

THE 18-hole Stableford event was played in warm steamy conditions, the small amount of drizzle was very welcome.

The winner was Steve Nattrass with 36 points on a countback from John Wilkinson.

Heather Wilkinson was third with 35pts, Oldaker finished fourth one point further back, holding off fifth-placed Peter Irvin on a countback.

 Nearest the pins were Peter Irvin on the second, Vince O’Brien on the fifth, Oldaker on the seventh, and Nattrass on the 13th. 

Nattrass hit the closest second shot on the 11th.

Longest putts went to Peter Irvin on the first, Terry Rhook on the 16th, Nattrass on the 17th and Graeme Torney on the 18th.

The birdies and ferrets winner was Oldaker, while the longest straightest drive on the ninth was struck by Rhook.

This week

WEDNESDAY is a 13-hole stableford event and Friday is $5 Fun Friday at 4.45pm, all members and guests are welcome to play.

Saturday is an 18-hole, two-person gentsomes event to finish off the week’s schedule.
