Bulls stampede over Rams into second place

Bulls has grabbed the second rung of the Glenelg Region Hockey Association Men’s division one premiership ladder after a 4-2 defeat of Rams at Brian Wilson Field on Sunday.

The defeat saw the Rams knocked from the second spot into third on goal difference and the side will have to regroup quickly as the team must battle the undefeated Jakabytes tomorrow afternoon.

The Bulls had the ball moving forward at every opportunity and veteran goal sneak, Gordon Last blasted it into the back of the net twice, while Tom Schofield and James Broad also defeated the Rams defensive structures.

The Rams found the net twice in reply, but the game was gone and so too second place on the ladder.

COLLEGE also climbed the ladder as the side took a 2-0 victory against Demons in the early game on Sunday, with Harry Brown and Henry Dorahy ensuring the side would rise into the top four.

The defensive effort from College was outstanding as the team kept a clean sheet despite the Demons sweeping forward at every opportunity.

College displaced Demons from the top four and will now have to defend its ladder position as finals loom in seven weeks’ time, but Demons will be fighting to regain a spot in the finals too.

JAKABYTES proved it is the team that all others are hunting this season as the ladder leaders took Couldabeens apart with a 5-1 victory.

It was all one-way traffic for the Jakabytes as Sam Clark added his name to the scoresheet twice along with Angus Kissel, Arthur Biggin, while Couldabeens had Jock Adamson gain one goal back to make the scoreline not so bad.

Women’s Division 1

COLLEGE has maintained its undefeated record in the Women’s division one competition with a 5-0 whitewash of Dunkeld Red at Hamilton College Field on Sunday.

The College team is a very good outfit and look likely to go through this season undefeated, but it takes only one team to have the belief that it can match it with the ladder leaders for that run of victories to end.

On its home field on Sunday College was just far too good for the ladies from Dunkeld as Sarah Andersen goaled twice and along with Georgie Broeren, Sophie Merrin and Emma Robertson to put Dunkeld to the sword.

DUNKELD White had a good match with its sister team, Dunkeld Blue in the opening timeslot for the afternoon and the White team came away with a good 3-1 victory.

Jessica-Ann Hayes scored twice for the White team as Lucy Moore added a third to the team tally, while Ella Jackson clawed a goal back for the Blue team.

It was a maiden victory for Dunkeld White and no doubt there will be more to follow judging by this form.
