Penshurst announce joint coaches for top netball team

PENSHURST has announced some of its 2022 coaches with Leah Mirtschin and Sinaed Hasell set to be joint coaches of the A grade team next year.

Hasell stepped in to coach the last few games this year, while Mirtschin has plenty of experience in the Mininera and District Netball Association’s top grade.

Bombers 2021 netball director, Cheryl Casey said the characteristics of both players meant it was an easy decision to appoint them as joint coaches.

“Due to both Leah and Sinaed both playing and being great supportive players on and off the court, it made sense to appoint them both,” she said.

“They are both very different players and only played a few games together this season, due to Leah returning late in the season after having baby Zac.”

With both players versatile and able to play multiple positions, it should allow the pair to offer leadership across the court during games.

Casey said Mirtschin’s knowledge and experience with the Bombers’ systems and structures would be beneficial, while Hasell’s fresh eyes and fresh ideas would also be positive.

“Leah has been with the club for a long time and despite her age, she is regarded as a senior player,” she said.

“Sinaed will be having her second season with us and has come off a joint best and fairest season.

She stepped up at the end of the season to take on coaching roles for two teams and has a lot of respect.

“She has a great knowledge of netball, both Leah and Sinaed are respected and are great assets to the club.

“It will be interesting to see where they play themselves as Sinaed played majority of the season in defence and Leah stepped up into a shooting role.”
