THE Hamilton Kangaroos Open team took on North Warrnambool Eagles at Bushfield Oval, going down by 17 goals in the round four clash on Saturday.
The home team settled into its rhythm quickest and made the most of possession in the attacking end to lead 10-6 at the first change of ends.
The dominance continued in the second quarter with the Kangaroos unable to match the efficiency in transition, as the Eagles scored 15 goals to 10 to go into half time with a 25-16 lead.
North Warrnambool did not give the visitors a sniff of a comeback, as the young Kangaroos side continued to try and pressure the home team.
Hamilton worked its way into the game and won the final term by a goal, but lost to the Eagles, 38-55.
The blue and white were again without some key personnel, but Kyra McKinnis got up for the game after being subbed out during the Portland game with a calf complaint.
Eve Duckmanton and McKinnis were named the Kangaroos’ best, while Kelsey Lewis top-scored for the visitors with 20 goals.
Seniors
THE Kangaroos’ Division 1 team started positively, but was overran by North Warrnambool to lose, 28-38.
The visitors impressed in the first quarter, making the most of their attacking drives to go into the first break leading, 8-7, but from there the Eagles adjusted and gained control of the contest.
A two-goal deficit at half time grew to a six-goal margin at the final change for Hamilton, eventually going down by 10 goals.
Jess Crane, Gabby Redpath and Indiana Ryan were all impressive for the blue and white, with Ryan the Roos’ top-scorer with 19.
DIVISION 2 was a more positive result for the visitors, winning 38-31.
A two-goal lead at the first break saw the Kangaroos settle into the tempo and the margin remained the same at the main break, as the Eagles continued to stay within reach on the scoreboard.
The second half was when Hamilton’s style had the most impact, scoring 17 goals to 12 after half time to win, 38-31.
Tahlia Ross finished with 22 goals and was named the Kangaroos’ best player.
DIVISION 3 saw Hamilton also register a win, outplaying the Eagles, 30-11.
A seven goals to three opening quarter set the tempo for the rest of the game with the home team unable to match the Kangaroos across the court.
An 11-goal lead at half time grew to 14 at the final change, as the Kangaroos did what was required to collect a comfortable victory.
Elizabeth Goodman topped the Roos’ goals with 22, while Casey Coote, Ellen Casey and Jessica Beattie were the visitors’ standouts.
Juniors
HAMILTON Kangaroos had a positive day in the junior games with the blue and white winning the 17-and-Under game, 46-25, off the back of a 11-4 opening term.
The visitors also finished ahead at the final whistle of the 15-and-Under game, 29-15.
A 26-16 victory in the 13-and-Under game gave the blue and white a clean sweet of the junior contests.
