THIRD place on the Western Border Netball 17 & Under ladder belongs to the Cats, after a good win over North Gambier at the weekend.
The young Cats continue to impress all across the court - Chloe Foster continues to work hard at goal attack, combining well with both Ivy Lane and Zoe Hill, using the solid ring-feeding from Madeline Patton and Makayla Hutchins.
Defensively, Sophie Hart and Marissa Jamieson are providing valuable pressure on the opposing wing attacks and allowing the combination of Phoebe Carlin and Ebany Jarrad to dominate the opposition goalers.
The girls are two points behind second-placed South in the ladder, but well behind in percentage, so are unlikely to move any higher.
However, they will look to continue their great form, leading into the finals series.
A Grade
A GRADE was unable to continue its good form from the previous week, coming up against the might of North Gambier fresh from their draw against Millicent.
Charlotte Rice and Ebany Jarrad teamed well to try and stop the might of Caroline Wakefield and while they managed multiple intercepts, the supply was constant as North scored 72 from 87 attempts.
Multiple wayward passes cost the Cats, turning over the ball through the centre court into the goal third and limiting the resulting supply to goalers.
11 & Under
THE 11 & Under Cats went into Saturday’s game with a 13-player team.
The girls went out this week playing in all positions over the court.
We had a slow start on the score board but if you didn’t look at the board you wouldn’t have been able to tell.
Our girls in the first half of the game were taking every shot that came to them and moving the ball well.
First half goal-scorers were Bailey Green, Ruby James, Cleo Longhurst, Skye Kurzman and Kate Henry.
Our defenders, Pinelopi Papdamitriou, Bridey Dorahy, Brooklyn Mutch and Isabella Luers played a magnificent game on making the most of every rebound and moving it back into our centre court were Eliza Herring and Georgia Bailey, who moved and defended the ball at every opportunity.
The girls went down North 16 to Casterton 12.
