ERIN Roll notched up a huge milestone for the Tyrendarra Football Netball Club on Saturday, playing her 250th game in their round four clash against Heywood.
While her A reserve side didn’t get the four points it was once again an impressive shooting performance from the 25-year-old.
Since starting netball at the club when she was a 10-year-old Roll has had a successful 15 years in the game, playing in seven grand finals and winning four premierships, including back-to-back A reserve victories in 2018-2019.
“It was really exciting in juniors, we played with the same team, give or take one or two people, for the whole six years so that was really nice,” she said.
“I think we all took it for granted at the time that we were in grand finals pretty much every year.
“We were always in one – the A reserve one was more special because you had more idea of the fact it’s a bit harder, but I also didn’t have nerves on the day either which was nice because I’d done it before.”
This year marks something more special for Roll, who has had the opportunity to play with younger sister Jorja in A reserve, the first time the pair have done so since their 13-and-under days.
“My under-13s year we played together with our grand final and then this year is our first year since then which is crazy,” she said.
“A lot of people ask if we fight and what not but we don’t really have that relationship, we’re opposite ends of the court.”
This milestone has been a long time coming for Roll, who would have earned it three years ago if it weren’t for COVID disruptions; however, it was always on the cards as she loves her netball out at the Darras.
“I should have had it three years ago; going into 2020 I was on 241 games and then 2021 was a weird season where we only had six games,” she said.
“There’s so many connections out here that I don’t see the need to go and play anywhere else – I feel really connected out here.”
