Strong day for Roos despite Open loss

THE Roos had a late blow, losing Emma and Kellie Sommerville to work duties, leaving the Roos a little light on for experience in their Open clash against Camperdown, losing 63-43.

Other senior players stepped up to fill the gaps, with the home side starting strong and taking a 13-12 lead into the first break.

The Magpies worked into the game and grabbed the lead shortly before half time and went on to record a 63-43 win.

Saskia Gould was named the Roos’ best after putting up 28 goals, while Ella Sevior offered good support with 15.

Seniors

THE Roos’ Division 1 team made light work of the Magpies, winning 65-18.

Hayley Sherlock (34 goals) and Stephanie Holcombe (29 goals) made the most of their chances in goals, with Rhianne Lewis also strong in defence.

The Division 2 contest saw Hamilton edge out the visitors by four goals, 36-32.

Tahlia Ross was the standout, named the Roos’ best after putting up 27 goals.

Division 3 went the way of the blue and white, with Lily Raymond and Tenille Oliver both scoring 17 goals in the 44-23 win.

Juniors

THE 17-and-Under Kangaroos fell to the Magpies, 26-55, despite 17 goals from Bridget Mailes and the influence of the team’s standout, Lexie Smith.

Hamilton’s 15-and-Under side won, 44-8, with a 11-1 first term setting up the win, as Ruby Cleaver impressed for the home team.

The 15-and-Under Reserves also went the way of the blue and white, winning 46-12, with Lily Raymond putting up 26 goals.

The Kangaroos’ 13-and-Under team also grabbed a round two win, 25-13, after Ava Kinnealy and Leni Robertson each finished with nine goals, while Taya Sherlock was the team’s best.

Saturday’s results also included the 13-and-Under Reserves winning, 24-16.

Hannah Carroll top-scored with 10 goals, while Chloe Stewart was named the Kangaroos’ best player.
