THE Dunkeld Cup day, an iconic racing meeting, set beneath the beautiful Grampians mountain range with an ability to attract modern-day race crowds in excess of 10,000, is a day circled on the racing and social calendar by many across Victoria and abroad.
Unfortunately, calendars have been left unmarked with the 2020 edition of the cup meeting going ahead without the general public allowed, due to COVID-19 protocols.
Some owners will be allowed on course in a controlled format, but generally it will be an eerie feeling beneath Mt Abrupt, as the barrier gates crash open for the first race today.
