Court Deep’s Cup Win

COURT Deep was able to provide the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace stable with its first Penshurst Cup after a stylish win in the club’s feature race on Saturday.

Favourite punters didn’t have any cause for alarm, the $2.05 chance winning by just over a length after a polished ride by stable rider, Jarrod Lorensini.

He was the only favourite to win on a competitive day’s racing.

Bringing strong form into the race, Lorensini took all risks out of the race by settling handy to the leaders throughout.

Rounding the home turn, Under Oath looked a serious challenger to the favourite before weakening late for third with Takumi finishing nicely to finish runner-up.

Lorensini completed a double with the win, earlier guiding home Go Gurda in the Ace Radio Maiden Plate over 1000m.

Will Gordon maintained his great form with a riding treble, while Kate Walters finished with a family double for father-in-law, Bob Post, and husband, Kane.

Gordon rode brilliantly all day and with any luck his treble may been extended after three seconds as well.

The unlucky combination at the meeting was trainer, Jamie Barry, and jockey, Tayla Childs.

Three runners for three placings including the heart-breaking nose defeat by 46-start maiden, Bloomin’ Crafty, in the first race.

Peter Young celebrated another win with his seven-year-old mare Miss Cavendish in the Vaccinate now with Coopers Campyvax BM52 Handicap over 1476m.

In an exciting finish, the mare was resolute in chasing down run-away leader and favourite, Fair Go.

On a track that has special memories for Melissa Julius, she as able to bring the winner from beyond midfield for a half-length victory.
