TWELVE months after her previous win, local trainer Jessie Constantine celebrated another success at the Hamilton racecourse.
Courtesy of an excellent front-running ride by Christine Puls, Bajraktari delivered Constantine a much-deserved victory.
With positive intent from the barrier, Puls took up the lead and despite constant pressure from another local runner in Tom’s Shout, was able to kick strongly to hold off Lunch In Biarritz who finished hard for second.
The five-year-old by Bianconi, who was only having his fifth start, relished the step up to 1409m.
After a strong effort when second at this track at his previous start, the gelding was able to dictate and roll into a lovely gallop to win narrowly but nicely.
Constantine’s previous win was at this track in November last year with Lacrima.
A hard-working trainer, the win can hopefully roll into more success in the near future.
Starting at $11, the lightly-raced galloper should continue to improve and provide plenty of fun for the Constantine family.
Tom’s Shout trained by Darren Kolpin was brave in running third after doing all the work outside the leader.
After two recent placings, he looks well placed to break his maiden in the coming weeks.
On a day where favoured runners were prominent, riding honours went to Dean Yendall and Will Gordon with doubles.
Yendall was successfully on Pristine Image for Symon Wilde and Fight On Shades for Matthew Williams.
Gordon continued his great form with wins on two favourites in Jekyll’n’hyde for Simon Morrish and Pentire’s Spirit for Lindsey Smith.
Yulong Knight continued on his career best form by completing a hattrick of wins in the bet365 BM64 Handicap 1209m.
A lovely ride by Jarrod Lorensini made another long trip to the region from Mornington worthwhile for trainer, Rob Blacker.
Showing a liking for racing in this part of the state, his previous two wins were at Mortlake and Dunkeld also with Lorensini in the saddle.
Racing returns to Hamilton on December 7.
