Yendall dominates Hamilton again

POPULAR Horsham-based jockey Dean Yendall continued his great record at Hamilton with a treble on Tuesday.

During a career which started back in 1991 and includes over 2600 winners, Yendall has consistently churned out winners at Hamilton.

His last 117 rides at the track have produced 27 winners at a strike rate of 23.07 per cent.

Yesterday he showed all his riding skills by winning from the front and from back in the field.

Mighty Ganges was a lovely box-seat ride to win his maiden, Wheal Rose came from midfield with a well-timed run, while Miss Tenthousand was rated beautifully in the lead to win over 2200m.

From eight rides, Yendall had seven top four finishes.

Not to be outdone, young apprentice, Thomas Stockdale, book-ended the meeting to claim a double.

Corona Lad, trained by Nathan Dunn, was very impressive on debut to give Stockdale a flying start to his day.

Settling off the pace, the three-year-old by Animal Kingdom was far too strong for Viking Rebel and race favourite, Frostwood.

In the final race, Stockdale rated Enigma perfectly to give that gelding back-to-back wins at the track for the Mick Price and Michael Kent Junior training combination.

Ciaron Maher and David Eustace produced another smart youngster in Vermentino to win the Ace Radio Maiden Plate over 1100m.

Ridden by Harry Coffey, the three-year-old colt by Extreme Choice jumped straight to the lead to eventually win by more than two lengths in what was a soft win.

He looks to have city class and will be one to follow.

Geelong trainers, Vin Malady and Carly Cook also saddled up winners.

Malady produced Fast Melody to win the Ruth Margaret Anne Memorial BM58 Handicap and later in the meeting Cook won the Leo “Bowie” Roberts Memorial BM58 Handicap with Stately Star.

Senior riders Craig Robertson and Declan Bates rode the respective winners.
