Smith, Kerlsey combine for a treble

WARRNAMBOOL trainer, Lindsey Smith, combined with talented jockey, Fred Kersley, to dominate the Hamilton Racing Club’s Thursday meeting with a treble.

Diwali won the first division of the distance Highweight at nice each way odds, before the more favoured duo of Invincible Power and Bellini Miss both won over 1400m.

The pair also finished second with Dayan Star in the final race, while Smith and Tom Madden combined to fill the runner-up stall with Van Scotia.

Bellini Miss, a former Moonee Valley winner, was impressive in victory and appears to be heading in the right direction for another city success this preparation.

Dean Yendall and Symon Wilde rarely miss a meeting without a winner, both landing doubles in the riding and training ranks respectively.

The pair combined to reward favourite punters with a win after the impressive Navy King made it back-to-back wins after his recent success at Camperdown.

Yendall also won on Enzo for Mick Price and Michael Kent Jnr, while Wilde teamed up with Aaron Kuru to win the second division of the Highweight with long odds-on favourite Jack Knows Best.

Local trainer, Trudy Cottier, saddled up longshot, Allaboutattitude, and despite the big odds ran a cracking race when finishing third.

The long trip from Pakenham was made that little bit easier for trainers Emma-Lee and David Browne when Shez Class won the ACE Radio Maiden Plate over 1100m.

A lovely ride by apprentice, Ryan Houston, landed the mare a narrow but convincing winner.

Rarely does a meeting go by without a South Australian border-hopper featuring among the winners.

Jamie Opperman took the honours this meeting with the well-backed Wild Willy getting the money.

Relishing a big drop back in class from recent efforts at Gawler and Morphettville, the six-year-old son of Atomic proved far too good for his rivals over the mile trip in the Dipping Dynamics BM58 Handicap.

The gelding was handled beautifully by apprentice Beau Treloar, the nephew of the great Group One winning rider, Wayne ‘Smokey’ Treloar, who rode through the 1970s and 1980s.

A smart ride, he made the most of his four-kilogram claim when sitting outside early leader, Millenial Girl, before kicking clear down the hill approaching the home turn.

Despite pressure from second favourite and runner-up, Under The Palais, at the 200m mark, the pair kicked clear late for a comfortable win.

Making a good fist of his limited time in the saddle, it was Treloar’s fourth career win, his first coming back in December.
