Plans for Sheep Connect push ahead

WITH Victorians sitting on edge as they await to hear the latest on the COVID-19 outbreak, the Hamilton Pastoral and Agricultural (P&A) Society is remaining positive and pushing ahead with plans for its Sheep Connect event.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions and uncertainty, the society decided to cancel the usual Sheepvention Rural Expo for 2021, instead pursuing a scaled back Sheep Connect event.

Business and events manager, Peta Anderson said the society hoped to run the event as originally planned and things were coming together well.

“The Hamilton P&A Society is intending to run Sheep Connect as originally planned,” Ms Anderson said.

“We need to follow government direction and we are awaiting to hear the events framework post the circuit breaker restrictions currently in place.

“We are very hopeful to present an excellent event this year.”

The two-day event will take place at the home of Sheepvention – The Hamilton Showgrounds - on August 2-3.

Ms Anderson said the interest in the event from exhibitors had been strong.

“We changed the event this year for the very situation we are now facing,” she said.

“Snap lockdowns and changes to the event framework have always been on the cards so Sheep Connect is a more flexible event that doesn’t require the same manpower or financial outlay.”
