A DOG that allegedly attacked a man in Portland in early November has been surrendered to Glenelg Shire Council after another incident this week.
Portland man Paul Jones alleged he was mauled by the canine while walking along Garden Street with his own dog at approximately 9pm on November 5.
The incident resulted in numerous injuries which required stitches and skin grafts, he said.
It was reported to Glenelg Shire Council at the time, with the canine remaining at its property while the matter was under an active investigation.
Unfortunately, the dog was then involved in another incident on Monday night which resulted in another hospitalisation.
Glenelg Shire chief executive officer Greg Burgoyne said the incident was a police matter and council could not comment further other than the dog had been surrendered to local laws and was currently impounded.
The incident remains under investigation by Portland police.
