‘Butter’ to be safe than sorry

A RECALL of a range of butter and butter blend products has been issued by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ), warning that consumers “should not eat these products”.

The products have been on sale at Woolworths, Coles, ALDI, independent supermarkets and Costco and the recall has been issued due to a “potential microbial contamination”.

“Any consumers concerned about their health should seek medical advice,” the statement said.

“Consumers should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.”

The affected products are listed below (all dates are 2022 unless otherwise stated).

  • Devondale Salted Butter 250g, Best before May 18 and June 4.
  • Devondale Salted Butter 500g: Best before April 30; May 1 and June 24.
  • Devondale Salted Butter 3 x 500g: Best before May 1.
  • Devondale Unsalted Butter 500g: Best before April 30.
  • Devondale Dairy Soft Original 500g: Best before Jan 6; April 6; May 11; May 12 and May 26.
  • Devondale Dairy Soft Salt Reduced 500g: Best before: May 10.
  • Woolworths Butter Salted 250g: Best before October 16, 2021; April 21; May 12 and May 13.
  • Woolworths Butter Unsalted 250g: Best before: October 16, 2021; May 11 and May 12.
