ALTHOUGH Valentine’s Day origins may have a dark and bloody past from ancient Roman times, yesterday it was more symbolic of love and romance celebrated with chocolates and flowers and handwritten notes.

The annual celebration boosts sales for florists and is reportedly one of their three top sale’s days for the year along with Mother’s Day and Christmas Day.
