Flipping pancakes for those in need

ON Tuesday, March 1, the Hamilton Uniting Church will once again be stacking pancakes for a good cause as they raise funds to help those in need.

Pancakes will be available for both dine-in and take-away at the Uniting Church Hall on Lonsdale Street from 10am-1pm.

The pancakes will be $5 each, with a variety of delicious toppings on offer, including maple syrup, lemon juice cream and berry jam.

Live music, as well as tea and coffee, will be available to those sitting down to enjoy their pancakes, with boxes on hand for those keen to take their pancakes to go.

Shrove Tuesday, which falls on the 1st this year, marks the day before Ash Wednesday - the start of Lent - which is a time of reflection in the 40 days leading up to Easter.

Event coordinator, Rosie Mercer said after the event was pushed back by a week last year due to COVID-19 interruptions, she was looking forward to a successful fundraiser and hoped to see a good turnout.

In line with current government requirements, anyone dining indoors will be required to show proof of vaccination.

If you’re too busy to order in person on the day, orders can also be made over the phone.
