The Folkie Festival returns

WITH less than a week to go until the 45th Annual Port Fairy Folk Festival, excitement has built for the return of the iconic Labour Day long weekend event.

Headline acts, including John Butler, The Paper Kites and Archie Roach will join homegrown and international talent in performing to thousands this weekend, as swarms of locals and tourists descend on Port Fairy once again.

2022 Artist of the Year, Mutti Mutti, Yorta Yorta, Nari Nari man, Kutcha Edwards, and Emerging Artist of the Year, Kee’ahn will be performing live throughout the weekend, and can both be seen at the Archie Roach Foundation Stage on Sunday night.

Ten young artists were added to this year’s line-up as part of the Port Fairy Folk Festival’s Future Folk Musicians Development Program presented in partnership with the Moyne Shire Council.

The program offers emerging artists the opportunity to perform alongside established acts - performers include Warrnambool’s, Flynn Gurry, and Koroit-based singer-songwriter, Ruby McKenna.

Those without tickets to the festival itself, can enjoy the vibrant Port Fairy Street Fair in the town’s CBD.

Road closures in Sackville and Bank Street will make way for market stalls, live music, family activities and more.

With events planned across the four-day weekend, there will be plenty on offer to entertain and delight the whole family.
