WORKS are underway with the Pedrina Park Netball Court Renewal under the Pedrina Park Master Plan.
As well as new surfaces for the courts, the master plan also includes court lighting, fencing and associated infrastructure to facilitate daytime and night time utilisation.
The $1.6 million project involved the demolition of existing unsafe netball courts and associated infrastructure and for the renewal of six netball courts complying with Netball Australia standards.
Funding for the netball court renewal project was allocated from the second round of the Federal Governments Local Roads and Community Infrastructure fund.
Southern Grampians Shire Council manager of community and leisure services, Susannah Milne was pleased to advise that the work was well and truly underway and on track to be completed this week.
“Asphalt works started Monday at the Pedrina Park Netball Court project which will be completed this week,” she said.
“The Asphalt surface then requires time to ‘cure’ prior to an acrylic surface and line application to occur to finalise the surface.
"We are currently on track to complete the entire court project by the end of May - weather permitting - so look forward to seeing the project finalised ready for our sporting community to enjoy."
