Hamilton fixed wireless NBN map

WITH the recent announcement of funding for significant upgrades to the NBN network in regional areas, this localised map around Hamilton gives some approximate indications of the expected range of the improved fixed wireless service.

The blue areas show the current range, whilst the red areas are the places which will be covered following the 50 per cent range expansion.

As reported in The Spectator on March 24, the Federal Government claims 32,467 premises in the Wannon area will benefit from faster speeds.

The shift of many to the new service from satellite will have a flow-on effect of improving speeds and plan capacities for existing satellite users.

The government claims peak-time use at about 8pm will go from about six to 50 Megabits (Mbps) per second and at other times reaching 100 Mbps, with about 85 per cent of customers getting speeds up to 250 Mbps.
